Wisconsin Neonic Workgroup

We’ve been talking about Neonicotinoids, or neonics, a lot lately. And for good reason! As the most prolific class of insecticides used in agriculture to control a variety of pests such as aphids, whiteflies, and other sap-feeding insects, neonics have become a topic of growing concern due to their environmental impacts. Of particular concern is the impact of neonics on aquatic ecosystems and beneficial insect populations, including pollinators. Unfortunately, information on neonics, and strategies to reduce their impacts, are not being shared among key stakeholders, including the general public.

To build more awareness, the Wisconsin Neonicotinoid Workgroup is offering educational resources and public presentations to groups interested in learning more. Either remotely or in-person, we can right-size our presentations to meet the needs of your garden and rotary club, community and youth group, or religious organization!

If you are interested in inviting an expert from the workgroup to give a presentation about the use of neonics and their environmental impacts, please contact us!

The Wisconsin Neonicotinoid Workgroup is a collaboration of researchers, conservation groups, agricultural professionals, and the public, seeking to expand our collective understanding of neonic use and its potential environmental and agricultural impacts. We encourage participation from anyone interested in learning more about this issue. Whether you are a farmer using neonics, a researcher studying their effects, or a community member concerned about environmental health, your voice is valuable in this discussion.  More information about the Wisconsin Neonic Workgroup and how to connect with us can be found at cleanwisconsin.org/neonics
