Under the Lens: Sealing the Science on PAHs

Unfortunately, there has been a continued rise in environmental concentrations of PAHs over the past 40 years in the United States. This is partly because we have been operating under the assumption that since there is a wide range of potential sources, the PAH problem cannot be easily addressed with one or two targeted practices. However, there is new hope to reverse the trend as recent research and experimental evidence have begun to identify a single major and primary cause of PAH pollution in aquatic sediments: tar-based pavement sealants.

PSC Reform Act would cut $7M from money-saving Focus on Energy program

A bill under consideration today would result in higher energy bills for businesses and homeowners by reducing the amount electric utilities pay into Focus on Energy, the state’s energy efficiency and renewable energy program, by $7 million. The Assembly Energy and Utilities Committee is holding a hearing on the Assembly Bill 804/Senate Bill 654, dubbed the PSC Reform Act, this afternoon.

Clean Wisconsin Files Lawsuit Supporting DNR’s Authority to Protect State’s Drinking Water

To ensure that the Department of Natural Resources (DNR) uses its authority to protect clean, safe drinking water in Wisconsin, Clean Wisconsin filed a petition for review today of the recent decision on the Kinnard Farms wastewater permit. A recent position by the Department of Justice reversed an October 2014 administrative law order that required Kinnard Farms, a large animal feeding operation in Kewaunee County, to enact sensible protections to reduce groundwater pollution from animal waste.
