Stop unchecked data center development

Healthier Future for Wisconsin

Fighting Fossil Fuels

Speak out against the Red Oak Ridge gas plant proposal

State regulators are considering whether to approve the 1,186-megawatt Red Oak Ridge Energy Center. Share your concerns about the project with the Public Service Commission today.

Gas turbine electrical power plant

Two new gas plants have been proposed in southeastern Wisconsin to help meet growing energy demand from AI data centers: the Red Oak Ridge Energy Center in Kenosha County and the Foundry Ridge Energy Center in Walworth County. Projects like these would pollute our air, harm our health, and lock Wisconsin into decades of expensive fossil fuel dependence at a time when cleaner and more affordable energy is available.

If approved, the 1,186-megawatt Red Oak Ridge Energy Center would become the second largest of Wisconsin’s 29 existing gas power plants. State regulators are considering whether to approve the Red Oak Ridge Energy Center and they need to hear from concerned Wisconsinites like you.

What’s at stake?

  • Red Oak Ridge would generate 1,186 megawatts of polluting fossil fuel electricity, making it the second largest of Wisconsin’s 29 existing gas power plants.
  • Health costs and economic damages from Red Oak Ridge could total $1.07 billion over its 30-year lifetime.
  • Exposure to air pollution from Red Oak Ridge could cause three excess premature deaths in its first year of operation and 91 excess premature deaths over its 30-year lifetime.
  • Together, Red Oak Ridge and Foundry Ridge would emit as much or more air pollution as all commercial and institutional fuel combustion in Kenosha and Walworth counties combined.

Wisconsin should be investing in clean, affordable energy like wind, solar and storage—not outdated, expensive fossil fuels.

Your voice is needed!

Two public hearings will be held on the Foundry Ridge Energy Center proposal. Attend in person or virtually and urge the Public Service Commission to reject this costly fossil fuel proposal that would increase pollution and harm public health.
