Healthier Future for Wisconsin

Fighting Fossil Fuels

Speak out against the Foundry Ridge gas plant proposal

Right now, state regulators are considering whether to approve the 324-megawatt Foundry Ridge Energy Center, and they need to hear from concerned Wisconsinites like you.

Two new gas plants have been proposed in southeastern Wisconsin to help meet growing energy demand from AI data centers: the Foundry Ridge Energy Center in Walworth County and the Red Oak Ridge Energy Center in Kenosha County. If approved, these gas plants would pollute our air, harm our health, and lock Wisconsin into decades of expensive fossil fuel dependence at a time when cleaner and more affordable energy is available.

Right now, state regulators are considering whether to approve the 324-megawatt Foundry Ridge Energy Center, and they need to hear from concerned Wisconsinites like you.

What’s at stake?

  • Foundry Ridge Energy Center would generate 324 megawatts of polluting fossil fuel electricity, extending Wisconsin’s reliance on fossil fuels for decades to come.
  • Health costs and economic damages from Foundry Ridge Energy Center could total $360 million over its 30-year lifetime.
  • Exposure to air pollution from Foundry Ridge could cause one excess premature death in its first year of operation and 31 excess premature deaths over its 30-year lifetime.
  • Together, Foundry Ridge and Red Oak Ridge would emit as much or more air pollution as all commercial and institutional fuel combustion in Kenosha and Walworth counties combined.

Wisconsin should be investing in clean, affordable energy like wind, solar and storage—not outdated, expensive fossil fuels.

Your voice is needed!

Two public hearings will be held on the Foundry Ridge Energy Center proposal. Attend in person or virtually and urge the Public Service Commission to reject this costly fossil fuel proposal that would increase pollution and harm public health.
