Action Alert: Stop Unchecked Data Center Development

Healthier Future for Wisconsin

Data Centers

Tell the PSC: No discount for data centers!

Right now, Wisconsin’s energy utilities are planning how to handle ballooning new electricity demand caused by AI data centers. We’re working to ensure that Wisconsin families and our environment are protected.

We Energies has proposed a special payment structure (called a “tariff”) that would apply to AI data centers built in its territory. This tariff could be a model for other Wisconsin utilities and must be approved by Wisconsin’s Public Service Commission (PSC). Clean Wisconsin is fighting to keep residential customers from footing the bill and ensure clean wind and solar energy power as much data center demand as possible.

We need your help to make sure that Wisconsin families and our environment are protected.

Send a written comment or join a virtual public hearing to tell the PSC we need a tariff that holds data centers accountable for all of the costs incurred to serve them and enables data center demand to be met by clean resources.

Tell the PSC:

  • Data centers should not raise the cost of electricity for other customers.
  • Data centers need to pay for the cost of all infrastructure used to power their facilities.
  • The tariff should apply to all data centers over 100 MW.
  • The tariff should allow efficiency measures like demand response (reductions in energy usage during peak demand) and load flexibility (adjusting energy consumption in response to supply conditions) to meet data center demand.
