Evan Feinauer

Evan’s work focuses on protecting Wisconsin’s waters. He does this by supporting Clean Wisconsin’s policy experts and lobbyists at the Capitol, and by litigating in state court.

In July 2021, Clean Wisconsin won a pair of critical Supreme Court cases, each entitled Clean Wisconsin v. DNR. The first case was filed to compel DNR to follow the law and address groundwater quantity issues in the Central Sands caused by the proliferation of high-capacity wells. The second case sought to require DNR to impose stronger standards in permits issued to large farms to address groundwater pollution caused by manure runoff.

Evan grew up in the country near Omro, Wisconsin.

Before joining Clean Wisconsin, Evan worked as a Litigation Fellow with the Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC). At NRDC, Evan helped litigate a Safe Drinking Water Act citizen suit responding to the Flint water crisis in federal district court in Detroit, MI.

Evan holds a B.A. in Philosophy and Political Science from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, a M.S. in Ethics and Public Policy from Suffolk University, and a J.D. from the University of Chicago Law School.

Favorite things to do outdoors in Wisconsin: Hiking, gardening, ice fishing, climbing trees, and riding in slow-moving pontoon boats.
