Akshaya Sawant

As the Video Production Consultant, Akshaya lends a creative vision to Clean Wisconsin’s original content that aims to tell stories of Wisconsin residents who are taking action towards protecting our natural heritage and highlight how Clean Wisconsin’s grass tops approach is creating a real impact in our environmental policies.

Akshaya comes to Clean Wisconsin with experience of creating award-winning content for prominent global brands Spotify, Netflix and Amazon, where she served as the Senior Creative Producer, managing end to end execution from concept to final delivery. She previously worked as the Creative Producer for Tom Steyer’s 2020 presidential campaign, where she helped bring climate change and climate justice to the forefront of the national conversation.

Akshaya’s debut feature documentary ‘Talking To The Wind’ explores the aftermath of a 3-year man-made drought in the farming communities of Maharashtra state in India. The film won 8 awards and received 2 grants from the Virgin Unite Social Impact Film Fund. Originally from Mumbai, Akshaya was a member of ‘Harit Sena’ (The Green Army) that advocated for environmentally friendly choices in her school. During her undergraduate years, she participated in a campaign to make art out of the broken sculptures that would wash up every year on the beach after the very popular Ganesha festival.

Akshaya has a bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts and received her MFA in Film and Media Art from Emerson College earning the Dean’s Fellowship. In 2020, she was invited by the U. S. Presidential Scholars to discuss ‘Narration as Art and Responsibility’ at the Morningside Scholar’s Forum in China. Akshaya has been granted the O1B visa which is awarded by the U. S. government to select individuals with extraordinary achievements in art. When not working, she spends her time playing board games with her nephew, exploring new places and chasing sunsets.
