Tell your representative to support the Great Lakes Restoration Initiative (GLRI)
The Great Lakes Restoration Initiative (GLRI) is set to expire and Congress needs to reauthorize funds for this critical program that protects the Great Lakes. The Senate voted to reauthorize the GLRI, now the House must do the same. Why GLRI Matters
Since 2010, GLRI has invested over $4 billion in projects that:
- Restore wetlands and habitats
- Protect beaches and shorelines
- Clean up toxic waste sites
- Combat invasive species
The Great Lakes hold over 20% of the planet’s fresh surface water, support 30+ million people with safe drinking water, sustain a $5+ billion fishing industry, and draw millions of tourists.
