Clean Wisconsin staff rolled up their sleeves for a green infrastructure workday at Pilgrim Rest Church in Milwaukee. Over the past ten years, our Resilient Communities Program team, Milwaukee Metropolitan Sewer District, and the local community have joined forces to transform residential gardens and urban spaces into green havens that help manage flooding, water pollution, and sewer overflow. We capture approximately 2.45 million gallons of stormwater annually with green infrastructure improvements like the one installed at Pilgrim Rest. These green infrastructure projects also enhance air quality, reduce urban heat island effects, and create pollinator habitat.

First, we are a part of a project that is helping the environment, second, we were able to beautify a space on the church grounds and third, it shows our commitment to our community.
