Clean Wisconsin is accepting applications for a Summer 2026 resilient communities program intern position. Interns will assist Clean Wisconsin’s resilient communities program team in support of our small-scale green infrastructure (GI) work in the Milwaukee region.
Green infrastructure is an approach to stormwater management that protects, restores, or mimics the natural water cycle. As a resilient communities program intern, work will include the installation of small-scale green infrastructure such as rain barrels and rain gardens.
Duties for the resilient communities program internship include:
- The resilient communities intern will assist the green infrastructure manager in community outreach and installation of small-scale green infrastructure on public and private property in the City of Milwaukee.
- They will aid in coordinating and attending events, programming meetings or site assessments with partners and the community.
- Managing records, updating databases with information gathered through outreach activities, restocking supply inventory, assist with rain barrel/garden scheduling and installations requiring landscape work, and other duties as assigned.
- On an as needed basis, supporting the Clean Wisconsin Environmental Health Initiative by providing general administrative support, including resident engagement and follow-up, creative design using Canva or other programs, database management, and event support.
Qualifications:
Experience engaging with community groups is preferred but not required. Must be able to effectively communicate with a diverse audience. Requires full range of physical movement – bending, reaching, lifting, etc. Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds. Vehicle and driver’s license preferred but not required.
Supplemental Information:
This 12-week summer internship is full-time, Monday through Friday, 9:00 A.M. – 5:00 P.M. Occasional evening and weekend work required. Pay: $15 per hour.
