In 1970, people across the country were waking up to a growing crisis. Pollution was everywhere. Natural places were disappearing. That spring, Earth Day was born, and so was Clean Wisconsin. Back then, the group was known as Wisconsin’s Environmental Decade, a small but determined group of advocates who believed that the energy of that first Earth Day could be turned into real, lasting change. Today, Clean Wisconsin is the state’s oldest and largest organization fighting to protect safe water, clean air, healthy land and a livable climate.
