Our Legacy of Victory

Wisconsin’s First New Wind Project in 14 Years

Badger Hollow Wind made history in 2025 when it was approved by the Public Service Commission (PSC), making it the first new wind project approved by the commission since 2011. The 118-megawatt (MW) project in Iowa and Grant counties is a huge win for clean energy, local farmers and local communities.

Clean Wisconsin intervened in the proceeding for Badger Hollow, highlighting the environmental benefits and addressing persistent misinformation. Our rural energy campaign team played a crucial role in engaging local residents alongside a coalition of partner organizations. The process showed the importance of providing scientifically sound information while and accurate information about wind energy while helping foster a positive conversation on how to maximize benefits for the community.

Our work in the Badger Hollow Wind Project was centered on providing scientifically sound and accurate information about wind energy while helping foster a positive conversation on how to maximize benefits for the community.

The PSC’s decision means more economic opportunity and more financial resources for our farming families and communities hosting this project. The environmental, economic, and health benefits of this project will be felt for decades.

Why It Matters

In order to reach our net-zero emissions by 2050 climate goals, we need to implement new clean energy projects around the state, and that includes wind projects like Badger Hollow. After 14 years, the PSC took a major step in approving a much-needed wind project, paving the way for more wind energy in Wisconsin’s future.
