Overview
The Big Ugly Bill
By voting to cut federal investments in clean energy, infrastructure and pollution cleanup, Wisconsin’s Congressional lawmakers are pushing us toward a dirtier, more expensive future.
The so-called “Big Beautiful Bill” passed by Congress and signed into law by President Trump earlier this year will have some very ugly consequences for Wisconsin. It rips away incentives to help families and businesses save energy, giving huge tax breaks to big oil and gas instead. It dismantles the largest investment to fight climate change in U.S. history and prioritizes expensive coal mining and fracking.
As data centers strain our resources and energy prices spike across the state, it’s time to hold Congress accountable for its big giveaways to fossil fuel interests and tech companies at the expense of Wisconsin families.
Let your Congressional representative know: It’s time to serve Wisconsinites.

Frequently Asked Questions
FAQs
Why is Clean Wisconsin fighting this plant?
Because it’s a massive step backward. NTEC would lock in carbon emissions for decades, threaten local wetlands, and slow progress toward our clean energy future.
What are the alternatives to the gas plant?
Clean energy paired with battery storage, which are cleaner, more cost-effective, and aligned with Wisconsin law.
What permits does the project still need?
A wetland fill permit and a USDA loan. Without these approvals, the project can’t move forward.
