As Government Relations Director, Erik Kanter guides Clean Wisconsin’s legislative and policy initiatives through the state legislature and state agencies and leads the organization’s engagement with Wisconsin’s congressional delegation in Washington, DC. His knowledge of the legislative process and relationships with key state officials support the advancement of Clean Wisconsin’s policy goals.
Erik joined Clean Wisconsin in 2021, having previously lobbied at a Madison-based government relations firm and worked as a staffer in the State Assembly. He also serves on the Governance Board for the Healing Our Waters Great Lakes Coalition, which is a region-wide organization advocating for Great Lakes protection in Congress.
His passion for environmentalism comes from a lifetime of hiking, camping, and fishing. Erik loves working at Clean Wisconsin and is grateful for the opportunity to join his professional expertise with his personal passion.
Erik graduated from the University of Minnesota in 2012 with a bachelor’s degree in Political Science.
Favorite things to do outdoors in Wisconsin: Fly fishing in the Driftless, cross country skiing, hiking, and camping with his wife, son, and dog.
