Our Legacy of Victory
In 2021, Clean Wisconsin intervened in Madison Gas & Electric’s rate case at the Public Service Commission seeking a number of rate and program changes. Clean Wisconsin worked to reduce MG&E’s fixed electric charge for residential customers, which at the time were among the highest in the state, helping Wisconsinites save money on their monthly energy bills.
Why It Matters
By advocating for fairer electricity rates so monthly bills better reflected customers’ energy use, Wisconsinites were given a chance to better understand and control their energy use and face less financial burden.
The rate case settlement also led to the development of an energy bill relief program for low-income customers and ended customer-funded utility payments to energy trade associations.
