Use GoodSearch to Help Clean Wisconsin
With a few simple clicks, you can help Clean Wisconsin by using GoodSearch. GoodSearch is a search engine which donates 50% of its revenue to the charities and schools designated by its users. You use GoodSearch exactly as you would any other search engine (like Google) and because it’s powered by Yahoo!, you get proven search results. The money GoodSearch donates comes from its advertisers — the users and the organizations do not spend a dime! (This comes to about one cent for every search.)
Set GoodSearch has your homepage on the internet for your computer. It is easy. First, to set GoodSearch as your home page, simply go to www.goodsearch.com. Then, on the top tool bar, Tools – Options – and select "Use Current Page" to set your home page. Next you need to set Clean Wisconsin as your selected organization and to do so, you simply type "Clean Wisconsin" under the "Who Do You Search For" bar.

Become a Trained Messenger
Clean Wisconsin needs local citizens to speak out on issues affecting our clean water, clean air and clean energy. Sometimes this simply means we want to assign your name to a quote for a press release because your background (as a parent, angler, business person, health worker, etc.) will help us engage your local newspaper or radio station on our issue. Sometimes we may ask you to attend a training session to learn more in depth knowledge on a subject so you can speak to the media. Every situation varies and you can guide us on your comfort level in becoming a messenger.
Email Action Alert System
Clean Wisconsin issues timely emails alerting you to important issues affecting Wisconsin’s clean water, clean air and clean energy. Many times we’ll ask you to sign a letter either supporting or opposing certain legislation, laws, or actions. Each email provides you with the details to help understand the issue.
Sign Action Letters
Many times throughout the year when legislation is being reviewed, Clean Wisconsin drafts letters asking for specific things to help protect our clean water and clean air. You can receive these letters via email through our Action Alert system, or you can receive a hard copy in the mail. Either way, each letter provides you with the details to help understand the issue.
Sign (or write) a letter to the Editor
One of our grassroots techniques is to send letters to the editor of the publications in a specific area where we are doing work to protect your community’s clean water and clean air. We understand that people don’t have a lot of time these days, so we can provide you with a prewritten letter and even submit it for you. All you need to do is read it, make any edits if you want, and return it to us. We’ll submit it on your behalf. Or, we can guide you on how to write and submit your own letter. It’s easy.
Contact Decision-Makers
Because a lot of the work Clean Wisconsin does affects policy making at the state level, there are many times when we need people to call their legislators and elected officials about a specific topic that may degrade Wisconsin’s beautiful resources. To assist you every step of the way, we offer tips and talking points on each topic we need help with, and you can easily find your legislator by going to http://waml.legis.state.wi.us/ or calling 1-800-362-9472.
Community Meetings
Many times we work in specific geographical areas in Wisconsin. An area may be adversely affected by a polluting power plant or in need of groundwater protection. One of the ways we inform our members, residents and elected officials about the issue is by holding a community meeting to talk about what is going in your community.
Press Conferences
If you have never been to a press conference, it can be a cool experience to see how the media works. You can attend a press conference and hold one of our hand-made signs. Or you can make arrangements to speak on behalf of the subject if it is a topic that you hold dear.
Public Hearings
There are many times when public hearings come into play. From the local, state or federal level – we always need people to join us to advocate for clean water, clean air and clean energy. We can provide you with information on where public hearings are being held in your area, and share information on the topic so you can attend and register to speak if you like.
