Managing rainwater with green infrastructure
When rainwater drains into our water systems, it carries pollutants with it and damages our clean water supplies. At Clean Wisconsin, we work to build green infrastructure, like rain gardens, to prevent pollution and protect safe, healthy drinking water.
One of our biggest green infrastructure projects to date is in Milwaukee’s 30th Street Industrial Corridor. Clean Wisconsin partnered with the Milwaukee Metropolitan Sewage District and local businesses and artists to install rain gardens and build awareness through the neighborhood. The project helped to both implement cost-effective strategies to protect Wisconsin’s waters and strengthen bonds in the community.
