Ending Mercury Pollution with the Mercury Products Bill

In the mid-2000s, Wisconsin’s waters faced a serious threat: mercury pollution. In fact, the Department of Natural Resources issued an advisory that said it wasn’t safe to fish in any lake in the state because mercury levels were too high.

So at Clean Wisconsin, we got to work at the Capitol, and in 2009, we helped to push through the Mercury Products Bill, which banned the manufacture and sale of products that unnecessarily contained mercury.
