Katie Nekola, General Counsel

Katie is responsible for leading Clean Wisconsin’s legal department. Katie coordinates legal, media, and organizing campaigns, and oversees and participates in cases before the Public Service Commission of Wisconsin and proceedings at the Department of Natural Resources. She has advocated for a more robust energy planning process, clean energy alternatives, and energy efficiency and conservation policies, as well as water and air quality in her role as General Counsel. Katie manages Clean Wisconsin’s legal staff and internship program, and works with our Legal Advisory Council. She also serves on the Board of Directors of the Public Utilities Section of the Wisconsin State Bar.

Katie is a native of Northwest Wisconsin and holds a law degree and a master’s degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She has worked as a grassroots organizer, an energy consultant, and for the state Focus on Energy Renewables program.
