Content Manager

Join a team of passionate advocates and experts who are committed to protecting Wisconsin’s natural resources. Clean Wisconsin is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit seeking an experienced videographer, editor and storyteller who will help uplift the voices of Wisconsinites who are fighting for a cleaner, more sustainable and equitable future.

As Clean Wisconsin’s Content Manager, you will work with our Communications Director to create timely, relevant and compelling videos that engage viewers around key environmental issues in Wisconsin. Our environmental video series shows how people in every corner of Wisconsin are working to build a clean, healthy future one business, home and farm at a time. Clean Wisconsin’s strong social media presence of nearly 30,000 followers helps us promote and amplify these messages. Our State of Change podcast, now entering its third year, takes a deep dive into some of the most pressing environmental issues facing our state.

We rely on a range of communication techniques to reach the widest audience possible and move people to take action. From Clean Wisconsin’s legacy newsletter the Defender, now in its 52nd year of publication, to emails and action alerts aimed at our network of more than 15,000 email list subscribers, to hands-on outreach and events, our strategy relies on a varied approach to reach the diverse audiences we serve. Our Content Manager plays a key role in our overall communications strategy and development. This position will be based in our Madison, Wisconsin office.


Responsibilities:

  • Create short, social media-friendly videos that grow our audience and show how environmental issues are impacting people’s lives.
  • Produce longer-form documentary-style videos that help explain complex topics and support key programs.
  • Generate story ideas, cultivate contacts and relationships for future stories.
  • Develop and maintain content calendar.
  • Produce promotional/grant videos. This includes digital. advertisements, fundraising campaigns, grant submissions and videos for special events.
  • Oversee website content edits, updates and new page design.
  • Write articles for our website and Defender publication that correspond to videos.
  • Produce, edit and post monthly podcast content.
  • Maintain a commitment to accuracy in all work.
  • Manage Clean Wisconsin’s YouTube Channel.
  • Coordinate virtual livestreaming events.
  • Manage and maintain video, audio and other production equipment
  • Manage video, photo and graphics archive library.

Skills:

  •  Video production experience, including shooting, editing, post-production and captioning.
  • Experience using the Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Skilled at generating story ideas and conducting interviews.
  • Creative approach to storytelling using compelling video, soundbites and natural sound.
  • Able to prioritize work assignments and meet deadlines.
  • Able to take feedback and edit work products in an efficient and timely manner.
  • Familiarity with WordPress
  • Experience writing for all platforms—print, social media, video, website
  • Able to interact effectively, appropriately and compassionately with people inside and outside our organization.

Requirements:

  • An undergraduate degree in journalism, broadcast media, video production, or a related field, or equivalent experience required.
  • One (1) year professional work experience preferred.

Salary range:

$38,000-$50,000 commensurate with skills and experience. Benefits package includes health and dental insurance, a 403(b) retirement plan with a 6% employer match, and paid vacation and holidays.
