Clean
Air:
Limiting pollution from coal-fired power plants and
making polluters pay
Wisconsin currently generates more than 70% of its electricity from old and dirty coal plants, some dating back to the 1940s that burn imported coal. We can do better. The technology is available to clean up your air and water. Clean Wisconsin is working hard to hold lawbreaking polluters accountable.
Clean Wisconsin is working to limit pollution from coal plants and making polluters pay by working on:
- CLEANING UP DIRTY OLD COAL PLANTS: Cleaning up old and dirty coal plants and enforcing the Clean Air Act
- MERCURY REDUCTION: Reducing mercury pollution that is contaminating our lakes and fish and harming our citizens, by:
- Reducing mercury emissions from power plants; and,
- Eliminating mercury in products, like thermostats and switches.
- OAK CREEK COAL PLANT : Cleaning up old and dirty coal plants.
