Global Warming:
Reducing Wisconsin's contribution to global warming
Global warming presents both a problem and an opportunity for Wisconsin. Although discernable impacts caused by global warming are becoming evident around the state, we have the technology, know-how, and resources for Wisconsin to reduce its global warming pollution while also putting us in the forefront of building an economically healthy new clean energy future.
There are many solutions to the global warming threat that are within reach. Some solutions can be put into practice in our daily lives; but we also need to implement policy at the state, regional and federal levels requiring a reduction of global warming emissions from power plants. Investment in clean energy technology is vital to help create an economically healthy energy future and reduce Wisconsin's contributions to global warming.
Clean Wisconsin is working to address global warming in a number of ways.
As a member of the Governor's Task Force on Global Warming, we were in a prime position to create real, substantial global warming solutions. In July 2008 the Task Force finalized its recommendations which are a strong package of policies and incentives to reach address global warming pollution generated in Wisconsin.
In 2009, we will be working with Governor Doyle's office and the legislature to implement these recommendations. It will take the work of all Wisconsinites to see that we address this serious problem with strong solutions. If you'd like to be involved, please join our action network by clicking here.
Working in tandem with our global warming initiatives, Clean Wisconsin is dedicated to increasing the state's investment in energy efficiency and renewable energy technology. Clean Wisconsin is also fighting to retire and clean-up dirty old coal plants and is fighting against building more outdated technology coal plants.
