This tool kit gives you what you need to be informed about Alliant's proposed dirty coal plant and the process within Wisconsin to either deny or approve it. Please help us demand cleaner energy alternatives that do not add to global warming pollution. To become more involved, please contact Ryan Schryver at rschryver@CleanWisconsin.org, or call (608) 251-7020 extension 25.
Background:
Wisconsin deserves the best in clean, responsible energy choices
that meet our needs for electricity, but also protect our health
and the environment. However, Wisconsin currently depends
on coal for 70% of its electricity; all of which must be imported
from other states, a significant drain on our economy.
Alliant's proposed new Cassville plant will rely on outdated, dirty coal technology. This does nothing to position Wisconsin as a leader in innovative energy technology or to help curb global warming. Moreover, our governor and other leaders are committed to taking action to stop global warming, and coal fired power plants are a primary source of global warming pollution. Wisconsin cannot meet its greenhouse gas reduction goals if it allows another coal fired power plant to be built.

Clean Wisconsin is working hard to hold Alliant accountable to Wisconsin's needs for more balanced, clean, and safe energy alternatives that help reduce global warming pollution. Click on any of the options in the above box to start learning more about this proposal. |
